Janneth was looking to branch out and build a business that she could one day hand off to her kids. Her family had always loved pets, and when she had the opportunity to run a pet supply store of her own, she knew it would be a natural fit.
Two-and-a-half years later, Janneth and the rest of the Bone & Biscuit team have built a thriving community around their store. Pet parents and their furry friends see them for their carefully curated product selection and pet care insights they can trust. “Education is a priority for us. We work hard to make sure our staff has the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their pet’s nutritional health and wellness.”
To foster this knowledge, Bone & Biscuit runs regular training sessions for staff to learn the ins and outs of their products and pet care in general. The goal is to keep every team member up to date on the latest pet nutrition research and able to help guests find the right solutions for their pet’s unique needs.
Their commitment to helping pets extends to their product selection. All of the foods they carry are evaluated to ensure the ingredients, preparation, and nutritional quality meet their high standards. “We’re big proponents of natural food. It’s a common-sense approach: we only stock real foods, and nothing artificial,” notes Janneth. “We’re proud to carry Smack. It’s a product that reflects our values, and pets love it.”
Janneth isn’t the only one at Bone & Biscuit Co., Calgary Legacy Corner, who thinks so. One of their customers was looking for natural solutions that could help her dog, Sadie, who was in the early stages of dementia. “Sadie has dementia and used to stare into space and get confused,” explains Sadie’s mom. “There’s a special diet for dogs with dementia, but Sadie was allergic to chicken. Janneth recommended Smack, and it’s been life-changing! Today, Sadie was so alert that she was barking at birds through the window!”
