More than a simple shopping experience, Discover Dogs is a community centre that prides itself on being the most inclusive and progressive dog company in Vancouver. While the store opened in 2013, its origin story goes back to 2005, when Jake and Tanya started a dogwalking service.
They were always passionate about animals and saw an opportunity to create a top-notch customer experience that would stand out from other dogwalking services. Clients noticed their commitment to quality, and the business thrived. Before long, their team expanded to 16 walkers! By this time, they had also begun personally delivering products they recommended to their clients. In 2013, Jake and Tanya concluded that opening a store was the clear next step.
The Discover Dogs team focuses on educating customers to help dogs live happier, healthier lives. “There’s a lot of contradictory information out there,” notes Tanya. “It’s hard for people to feel confident that they’re doing the right thing for their dog.” Jake adds, “We’re here to guide them to the best solution for their dog’s needs and their budget.”
Jake and Tanya are passionate about low-ingredient alternatives to kibble. They offer a wide range of food, treats, toys, and accessories, including hard-to-find products, with knowledgeable support to help customers make the right choices for their pets. Of course, they also offer services such as pet massages, dental cleanings, no-restraint, consensual nail trims, and even consultations with their in-house canine nutritionist.
